How to get the rear pegs off?

5760 Views 20 Replies 18 Participants Last post by  d207gp
I spoke to Honda store yesterday and they said it was a massive job to take the rear foot pegs off, they said i had to remove the fuel tank to get to them?

Isnt their an easier way to remove the rear pegs?

"im not a mechanical retard, but if ive gota dismanle the entire bike to get the pegs off then id rather get the angle grinder on them" - or maybe not :)

Search.
There's been threads about it on here. It is quite a bit of work.
It was a pain in the ass. I removed the seat, then the fuel tank, then the bolts holding the battery tray and just lifted it up while i removed the bolts for the pegs.
Oh no, you didn't!?!?!? :beat:

Yes, there is an easier way to remove them. Please use the search, it has been covered.

If you plan on ever having to use the passenger pegs, then you should wait until the Sato street hooks get released later this month/next month before you remove the passenger pegs.

Also, if you plan on installing a fender eliminator, remove the passenger pegs when you install the fender eliminator.

Here are 2 threads that can help you:

Yes I do plan on installing a fender eliminator, if its hard to remove the pegs then i was going to wait and do the two together.

Thanks for the links
Any of you that remember how you did it without looking at the "How To's" in this forum......I salute you!!

I removed the passenger foot rests when I installed my F/E......I mentally blocked out that dark day in my life:sad010:

No....actually it wasn't THAT bad....just time consuming and patience trying....HATE the way Honda bodywork snaps, cracks and pops going back together..................Just TAKE YOUR TIME, and get loaded when you are finished.....NOT DURING the project! You'll do fine, I'm sure.
gave it to the dealer to remove them. Best $130.00 bucks I spent.
It wasnt so bad for me because I did it throughout the course of the winter. I had so many projects going on I had to take a lot of the bike anyway, but I had them powder coated and they are back on now and Im glad I will never have to do that again. Good luck to those of you that still need to do this.

dremmel tool or bolt cutter. otherwise, the answer is NO:sad010:
do it in the winter, early in the winter:sad010:
Ive ordered a tail tidy and brake light/indicator, so i will have a look at doing it when im fitting that.

After i took the side fairings off yesterday i had 6 clips left, so im dreading doing the rear pegs. Im sure Honda makes is so complicated for a laugh
I have a set of tow hooks that allow you to bolt your passenger pegs to. PM for details.
Well I took the pegs off using the h82loose method, thanks by the way, and it only took me a couple of hours, ontop of fitting the tail tidy and brake/indicator light.

pics tomorrow
WOW

Took me, seriously, 30 minutes! I dont see what the big deal was!!
Take a bit of work,WHAT! Takes 10 min..If it take u longer u shouldnt be wrenching on a bike period!
I hated taking them off....thats why I got some peg adapters
it was an afternoon of :gay: to get them off
perfect excuse to never take passengers - too much work to put them back on
I want to remove mine so I can take them to work and have them black anodized for free for a stealth passenger peg look. However, I don't want to spend the hours I've heard it takes to remove and reinstall them.

It takes hours. Been there, done that.
