What year was your Yammi? If you had an ‘09 or newer, the CBR will probably never sound as good to your ears. That is also subjective, but it’s hard to beat the sound of a cross plane.

With that said, I know most will suggest Yoshi and Akro for exhaust, but I personally had an M4 on my ‘06 which sounded amazing (and won’t break the bank), and I’ve heard an ‘07 with a full Arrow exhaust which was incredible. Food for thought.

It was a 1999 carb'd R1, the crossplane crank noise never did it for me. If you have any good sound bites of your bike, please share them :D It seems good exhaust note videos for this gen were scarce..

Haha yea I had seen your listing, I'm already pretty committed to this bike for the time being. Do you have any videos showing off the sound of that full akra exhaust?
I have track videos from a GoPro but it does not record the sound very well. My favorite sounds are a full Arata or Akra system. A long time ago there were 3 of us with 06-07's that all had Arata systems and were all about the same speed with the same gearing. When we were all tire to tire on the track the sound was intoxicating. I had an M4 a long time ago and the sound was decent out of it too.

Whether the ignition timing is restricted or not, a flash can still optimize ignition timing and fueling for your specific mods and average atmospheric conditions. I just think it’s ironic how you’re saying here you find it hard to believe you can gain 12hp with my mods and how a bazzaz is just as good as a flash when you have literally said in another discussion that, and I quote, “Power commander/bazzaz is no comparison to an ecu reflash...not power wise, nor functionality. . . the ecu flash is worth 8-10hp.” In regards to you offering to flash another members 2006 CBR1000RR… Of course you’re not going to gain the power you can with a new fly by wire bike, but there are several advantages to a flash over a standalone fuel module.
I didn't say a pc/bazzaaz is as good as a flash, i mentioned the bazaazz because it controls all 8 injectors without a need to buy anything else. I'm not comparing a flash to a add-on fuel controller, I'm saying a flash isn't worth doing on an otherwise stock 06-07 because there are no verifiable gains to be had. As for that quote, I will have to see where I said a 57 gained 8-10hp, because only 1 of my bikes ever picked up power with a flash, and it was 6hp...and that was the only one that picked up anything... The others gained some throttle response, but didn't make any more power. I have documented proof of what I say, now stand behind your statements and provide proof!

I will buy the same exact tune you are claiming gained power and test it... If it doesn't pick up anything, YOU refund me what the flash costs... That's how sure I am a flash is not going to make any power over stock on a bolt-on 57... I can test it on 3 different 57's too... I'll do an unedited video...

Im sorry, we may have a miscommunication. Never did I say a stock 57 would make that kind of power with just a flash. I was sure to specify those gains were achieved with BMC race filters, yoshi system with race can (they have a race and street version of the RS-5 slip), Venturi systems velocity stacks, 520 conversion, and then the flash with fuel and ignition mapping tailored to those mods. If Guhl motors were still flashing ECUs I’d gladly take you up on that so long as all other things were constant including my mods. And as for where you said a flash alone is worth 8-10hp. See post #16 in the link below. And in case you claim the topic of discussion wasn’t the SC57, a few posts prior to #16 will clarify that it was.

Just get a Rapid Bike Evo Racing it does fuel and ignition timing and engine braking all in one. Look how much timing it adds to a 06. Plenty of oomph. Or just get a dynojet ignition advancer cheaper no flash needed. I would contact Dynojet and see which maps they have available with ignition timing advance in them. BTW removing pairs reduces engine backfire ie pop. My 2cents.

Found what is apparently the only video I ever recorded of that bike with the M4:

Hopefully you can see it. Nothing special, no revs, just a startup and some idling, but if you have good speakers you can hear how it sounds. Hopefully that helps a little.

Sounds very similar to my Erion racing system, maybe a bit deeper. love the red fairings.

It was exactly the sound I was going for…louder than OEM but more smooth / mellow relative to other options.

Those fairings are aftermarket, but they are pretty much identical to OEM. My favorite combo from that gen is the blue / yellow though:

Tire Wheel Vehicle Fuel tank Automotive lighting

It's such a unique combo, and one that I pretty much never see (on a CBR or otherwise). I wish they would make a scheme like this for the new RR-R along with the anniversary colors.
