Inventing paint scheme

I'm getting a project bike and have some ideas on what I want for a paint job. How have some of you made up your scheme and make sure it looks good when applied to the bike? Do you do a drawing, or is there a program like photoshop but lets you virtually paint the bike? Experimenting with colors etc. I like the Hanspree and hrc colors but I want it original. Or is there a site you know of that has all the different bikes with the factory paint jobs to get more ideas. Thanks for any input.
