~ Jardine Pignose TOO LOUD

1889 Views 16 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  2008 RR
Just bought the bike....it has a Jardine Pignose on with a PCIII map.

Have riden it now for about a week and went out last night with the wife....IT's TOO LOUD! And I tend to agree! I love the look of the dual outlet, but at this point I can not really be picky.

What exhaust would you recommend me switching to?
I've seen the DB tests on HooliganBikeTech.com and this one seems to be the most quiet. @ 16+ feet.

I need suggestions! thanks in advance.

My friend has an Akra slip and it's pretty quiet but pretty manly sounding.

I'd recommend that. Plus it's made of very good quality
*sigh* ok what you need to do is remove it and the pc111, put it in a box send it to me and i will send you my stock stuff. problem solved :th_salute:
I'll take the exhaust off your hands for the right price...

What's the right price!? Cause I mostly likely will be selling it once I get the right exhaust on.

Looking into Akra now, but not sure....
will I still be able to use teh Jardine FE?
I have a full akra system on my 06, and it is by far the quietest bike in the pack on our weekend rides. make a great deep sound, so I imagine the slip on would be close to it, if not a bit quieter.

If I decide to go the Akra slip-on route....can I purchase the Header portion seperate down the road to complete the full system?

thanks

yeah you can, just have to look for it. Shouldn't prove to be too hard though.

How about a cheap and easy fix? Buy her a set of these:

haha I knew that was going to eventually be said...
Thing is that I really enjoy riding together, so I'm trying to make it as comfortable for her as possible so she'll want to continue riding. (Reason why I'm looking for another rear seat option)

What about these "DB Killers" i've been hearing about? DO they work? Who sells them?

I hear you on that account. Even if you get a quieter slip-on, ear plugs are still advisable as the wind noise from helmets has been linked to hearing loss and can help with concentration.

The only ones that are sold seperately that I am aware of are the ones for dirt bikes. You're best bet is to call Brad aka lexus rx at 828-252-2280 at his shop on Monday and inquire about your problem.

OK, I'll give him a call on Monday.....Will I be able to use my Jardine Fender Eliminator with the Akra Hex?

dude, stop worring about your damn jardine f/e. toss it in the trash. i screwed my plate to the underside of the battery tray and mounted my led plate light. cost me $.15 for 2 screws. never had any issues with the cops, and is plainly visible from behind.

now keep the jardine pig nose pipe and tell her to stuff some ear plugs in her ears and shut it. or she can sit the fak at home and clean house.

if you want quiet, put the oem one back on. you deffinately would not like to be behind me and my new gp can.

Called Brad today....got some good advice. The Akra can just went up in price! Ended up getting the KR Tuned Carbon pipe. Brad said It was the best Bang for the buck at the moment for what I was looking for:

Price (under $500)
Sound (deep tone, quieter than the Jardine)
Looks (Full Carbon and no "spout" looking thingy)
Performance (if I'm gonna upgrade might as well get some of this!)

I'll let you all know how it sounds when it is on.

Ended up ordering some Pazzo levers while I was on the phone.
You should put the stock pipe back on if you want to please the old lady and keep it quiet:th_SmlyROFL: This pipe is not loud, I love mine

He's good for that.

Do so.
