Hello,
is it possible for a person to lower the back of a bike in a garage or does a dealer have to do it?

You can do it at home... but to lower the back.. you need links.. .and make sure you have somewhere that you can "HANG" the bike up in the air while you switch out the links and raise up the front forks.

FYI.. the bike handles like ass when you lower it.
Please dont lower it. Get a Busa or ZX14 and lower that. If your short...get stilts

All your friends have gixxers, don't they?
Lower it if you want to lower YOUR bike. Its not hard get some lowering links, brake all bolts loose, and have a friend lean it on the kickstand while you swap it out quickly.
What year CBR?
YEAH !!!......Lower your bike!!!.....then strap the front end down too!!!!......and you'll have a real live boner-fied drag racer!!!:th_SmlyROFL:

On a serious note though if being vertically challenged is the reason you want to lower it, if at all possible, dont......it makes a huge difference in handling in towards the negative....it will dip into corners slower, have less ground clearance and rub on speed bumps.....
You would have a good drag bike with a strap on the front.
Also mine is lowered front and rear and 6 inches over and know what I still can take all my normal curves at around the same speed cause of the fact it is the street not a race track.
I am not short nor do I want a drag bike! Just thought I would lower it about 2 inches to sit up a bit more. Looks like I should not do that by all of the remarks!

The bike is an 04.
In that case, then no I wouldn't lower it either.
We lowered my friend's F4i since she couldn't reach on tip toes, and that bike handles like garbage now. Even if you are only doing it an inch or so, it makes a very noticeable difference. Once she gets more comfortable with it, we will raise it up and just have her deal with it.

Don't do it unless you absolutely have to.
If you lower it from the get go, you'll never notice any handling changes. I've had both lowered and not, there's NOT that big of a difference guys. A lot of people make it sound like after you lower a bike 1 inch it's like adding 100lbs to the front end and riding on bent wheels.

it sounds that way on here because a lot of the members value their bikes as performance machines on a racetrack, if you just cruise on the street and arent into taking turns and all that then lower it. whats the difference to these guys? its your bike do what you want to it.
^^or don't and use it the way it was meant..

although i do agree with you, i dont think its fair to tell someone what to do with something they spent their own money on
