Maintenance cost question

Need your opinion on a maintenance quote I got. Took my 2005 to a local mechanic that came highly recommended. Got a quote for $720 to do the following and curious if you all think it's reasonable. I'm in Orange County, CA.

Change front and rear brake fluids
Change and flush coolant
Change clutch fluid
Install K & N air filters
Replace chain and sprockets (using a nice kit)
Throttle sync.

Thoughts?

SMH.

The OP has already said....

I don't really have the facilities or the tools currently to work on a motorcycle. I also work 60 hours a week and would rather spend my free time doing other things. I am without a doubt sure I'd save money doing it myself. The purpose of this post was to get feedback on the quote I received to make sure it was accurate. That's all. Thanks.
So, I'm guessing he has no time or desire to DIY. But keep that advice coming anyway :)

Yes , I reject that line of thinking , if you own a liter bike, you should know how to work on it .

Rotten don't be like that you know working on things your self is overrated
Depends on how much you value your time. I've always found it relaxing performing vehicle maintenance (bike and truck). That knowledge is good in a pinch, too, if you ever need to call on it while out and about.
Yup.

The quote should break out parts and hrs x labor rate.

I don't mind doing vehicle maintenance (and I do, in my own time, on projects I am interested in - e.g., I rebuilt my RGV), however my free time is limited, and I'd rather spend it riding my bike (or drinking, socializing, whatever). Thus, i'll often pay my mechanic for his time to do the work during the week while i'm at work, so i can spend my free time riding instead.

Work values my time at $x per hour. I value my FREE time at 2-3 times that (i enjoy time to myself much more than time at work). That is something to consider for yourself.

Knowing HOW to work on a a bike is one thing. However wasting your free time doing so, when you have plenty of $ to pay someone else to do it (so you can spend your free time doing things you'd rather be doing) is a bit stupid.

$720 is a bit high. Shop around. Or buy the parts yourself, at a discount if possible, and have someone else perform the labor.

Most of us actually enjoy working on our bikes. It's sort of like spending quality time with it. I wouldn't pay someone else to do work on my bike that I have the tools and resources to do myself, no matter how long it takes me to do it.

This , I choose my shop over parties and social gatherings , unless its a track day , then I choose my shop on wheels (26ft Gooseneck) :thefinger:
