2007 cbr1000rr

Within the last week or so I've noticed that when I start my bike (1st gear, clutch in) it doesn't always start, however it does start intermittently. If I throw it into neutral it starts no problem.

Is this the neutral safety switch going bad? Any ideas?

Thanks guys

It's a known issue with all Honda's. You can either try to find out what's going wrong and join the searchersclub, or start in neutral.

CBR600fi4, same issue...
VFR 800fi, same issue...
CBR1000rr, no problem... so far
VFR1200f, same issue... sometimes

It could be related to the clutch-sensor, or not.
It's cheaper and easier to just kick it into neutral than trying to figure out where the problem comes from.

Problem solved, your lucky!

Thanks Marian. Checked the wires on the clutch switch and I'm good.

I've owned dozens of Honda motorcycles over a span of 3 decades worked on hundreds more. I even have 2 of the ones on your list in my home right this second and I have never had a single issue with the bike failing to start with the clutch disengaged when it would otherwise that could not be attributed to a simple issue with a modicum of troubleshooting skill.

There are solutions out there to most problems like this aside from just accepting the problem and living with it.

You are so fkin stupid bro. If you cross an i tersection in first or even second and your bike stalls you need to be able to put the clutch down and start the bike fast, and not be puting the bike in neutral and startit in the midle o trafic. You have nothing helpful to say just shut up.
