Hi all,
Today I bought the bike of my dreams: The Fireblade CBR1000RR SP1.

With only 3k miles, this bike had awesome Mods like OZ aluminum wheels, Brembo master cylinder, a Two Brothers Racing slip on that sounds amazing and the "ECU flashed to work along the slip on"

Now... besides how beautiful and so unbelievably fast, light, nimble, and MARVELOUS this bike is... Theres a problem. I hope I can explain it ok, my english is not the best (I'm from Spain):

One thing that I can't control and I don't know what it is... I can't hold the bike at a certain speed because it like miss fires and drops revs, I can go up the speed and slow down the speed but i can't maintain a certain speed, let's say 3rd gear at 50 miles per hour exactly because it would like idle or like miss fire and start dropping the revs not letting you maintain a certain low speed with the wrist in a neutral position. You understand? I cant settle at a certain speed cause it starts jiggleling and slowing down little by little losing revs and miss firing.

Could be some electronic thing? Exhaust thats not properly tune? It doesn't have a power commander maybe that? Ecu not matching exhaust? I really don't know!

Thank you.

Very nice to have you here! What a great choice you made, as I love my SP as well..!
I'm guessing you're here in the USA, best to take it to a reputable Honda dealer and have them run a diagnostic.
best,

The problem there, J.D. if your dealers are similar to ours in UK, is that a Honda dealer will probably give it the flick because of the ECU flash and Two Brothers pipe. I speak with the experience of my dealer not even looking at my (former) RR4 because it had a Power Commander. Dealer gave me the line that they can only plug in to standard settings. (sounded like a handball, but just passing this on)

I wonder if it might be better if @SuperbikeDiscovery might be able to attend (pending distance) the original tech/workshop which 'allegedly' did the reflash?

Other scenario is the the former owner did a 'fast one' and off loaded the bike with knowledge of this flaw.

You mention good intel for sure. I suppose part of it would depend on your relationship with your local dealer, mine is very good, and they’re not going to let a flash get in the way of resolving warranty issues wt HondaUSA.

You located in Spain? Is the bike an EU bike?
How do you know the ECU was flashed?

Is it a 2017/18/19 SP1 or a previous year model?

Wow you guys are great! Hey J D, Im from Andalucia! South, province of Cadiz. I ride now in south california, i live in orange county. Superbike Discovery on youtube or instagram (youtube we got lots of videos) we can always chat! Hopefully ride one day! God bless.

So you guys think the ecu is not properly flashed to match the slip on? The person who sold it to me said it was flashed for the slip on but yea maybe it wasnt properly done.

I thought today that maybe it needs a Power commander and itll solve the issue!?

2017 SP1

Thankkkks guys you rock. Im part of the Honda CBR community now!!! (Ex Kawasaki rider haha)

It sounds like a mapping issue, assuming all connectors are properly plugged in and you don't having an grounding issues or wires shorting.

Have you tried the different modes to see if there's a difference?

There's several dealers in southern California that can help you but I find it's better to be honest with them upfront about the mods and go from there. The techs are smart and will know about anything aftermarket on the bike. Most dealers do aftermarket parts and might be able to help, just be honest and upfront.

So after everyone saying it was ECU related... I sent it out to have a company flash it properly. Maybe the people or whoever flashed it first did not set it well and the bike was not running smooth at all. So I'll get back to you guys whenever I receive it back.

Alright all:

I sent the ECU to be "re-flashed" but this time to a proper SC77 expert at KCS which user "RC45" of this forum happens to work for and they were super helpful with all the details in a constant communication, after I received the new flashed ECU the problem was GONE instantly. At first test the bike took a while in adapt to the new ecu, quick shifter stopped working, engine lights on... So i stopped riding after like 45 minutes testing it out. But the next day, after turning the bike on and off a couple of times, everything was perfect.

Now I not only have the issue fixed but I have way more power than before, bike is insane at low/mid range, just brutal!!! and with its low weight and how easy it is to handle... Im in total love. Never had a bike with so much low end power, its ridiculous, so than I just barely dont want to be in Power 1 anymore! O.O

God bless.
Thanks.

Great result and perhaps a good base for others to believe that 'proper' work on these ECUs WILL transform the bike - particularly the USA models. Really pleased for you!!

Thanks for the opportunity to unlock all the potential your bike always had available.
And the best part is that you kept all the same hardware in place!

Have fun with it!
