The strange thing about that is plastic for molding is not expensive. They might be using left over decades old ABS stock or possibly even recycled plastic.
Paint, at least good quality paint, is much more expensive. I would be willing to bet the paint they use is also cheap low grade stuff and will chip, peel, crack, or fade over time.
Molding casts are expensive to make and take a fair amount of maintenance or you will have issues with the finished product. Also Injection molding speed and temperatures are critical

Either way I'd pass on any knock off plastics for my bikes regardless of cost. It's the price of riding (and crashing) a sport bike
I have a feeling the actual molding might be done by the same chinese companies that do the OEM stuff just using really crap materials with stolen or rejected injection molding dies..The china syndrome stuff is thicker and heavier and denser.

Huh, the Chinese-made are thicker and heavier?
I'd think they should be flimsy and thin?

I just looked at a source for Chinese made bodywork. The whole shebang is $369. It’s 100% satisfaction guaranteed. I feel like ordering a black set just to have a different look every once in a while. They wI’ll do custom graphics for the same price. I don’t know how reputable, but their website looks the part.

Thanks.

What's the Woodcraft guard in your 2nd image? Is that for the ACG cover?
Engine case sliders, have them in both sides
Your engine case Will hit if the bike is layed over. You can see what woulda happened to mine if I didn't have a slider/guard there.
You have quite a few options, I just liked the woodcraft

The plastic is such crap it can barely support its own weight so I think they need more of it or it is just denser. Combined with the metric shit-tonne of clear coat slapped on the stuff you geat some awesome ballast :ROFLMAO: :coffee:

I can appreciate all the concerns about aftermarket fairings. I'm pro American products whenever I can.....but I am on my third set of Auctmarts and I've actually been pleased with the fairings and especially the price. The first set I crashed and only got the third set to change the looks. To be honest I have not had any of the problems mentioned....with over 30,000 miles logged. I got every piece of plastic on the bike including all the little black pieces, custom painted to my order, optional rear seat cowl, plus extras like smoked windscreen, tank protector and large bolt set for $360 shipped. I'm not risking a crash with expensive OEM fairings and I have a unique paint scheme. Seems hard to beat to me....

I looked at the website of AuctMarts but I did not see any options to do custom graphics.
Did they do yours or did you get your custom graphics done elsewhere?

Strange ... it said FREE SHIPPING along the way but during the CHECKOUT, it slapped $100 into shipping.

My first set I sent drawings to them for completely custom graphics. The current set I just made alterations, so I know they painted specifically for me. The other thing that I found positive is their communication. They seem to be willing to work with any changes and email efficiently.
They may charge some extra for shipping insurance.
Keep in mind, I'm not a spokes person for Auctmarts....I've just used their product and am pleased with it.

You are correct.. It adds "Best way: air $100" to it at the end.

Looks like they now like to ship via air freight vs ground that they used to.
Might be a Covid related issue.

Yup, possibly COVID delays and I heard recent customers complaining it took more than a fair 6 weeks to arrive.
So, they may have switched to Air to increase customer satisfaction.

I don't need it in a jiffy so, I can wait.

I think you are right. My last set I ordered right before the Pandemic. They shipped it by China mail and was stopped. They had to get it back and reship it from Singapore. It ended up taking 2 months, but I wasn't in a hurry either and I understood the situation.

I'll try them out for my 2005.
If it all works out well, I'll get another set for the 2018 SP and keep the OEM set in a Safe; thanks to RC45 for starting the idea. :geek:

If you have never removed the fairings on an 05 and have any questions I'll try to help. The hardest part to deal with is the rear fairing behind the seat. You practically have to break it in half to stretch it over the frame. I've removed and installed it four times and I always got it done while cussing like a sailor....LOL
You might want to order in some extra OEM bolts of the variety on the fairings, especially the rubber encased nuts on the inside where the lower and mid fairings meet.

Thanks for offering to help. They are giving away a free set of fairing bolts and I have those well-nuts (with rubber exterior). I'll seek your help when the time comes.

I just placed the order with Auctmarts and they gave me free shipping with the warning that it will take around 2 months to arrive via the passage of a Chinese sea-fairing vessel. :ROFLMAO:

I guess I have given myself something to do in those rainy and cold late Autumn months.

I've been on this site and a few others for several years. Never come across anyone who gets "deals" on Honda parts. Best bet is partzilla, motorsportsdiscount, or similar like all the rest of us go to

Are you asking for a connection with Honda to get the right part numbers? or better pricing? or something else?

If part numbers,
You could always look up the part numbers and pricing on:

RevZilla

Revzilla had a sale a while back for 20% off of honda OEM parts, so they might go on sale once in a while.
