I have a feeling the actual molding might be done by the same chinese companies that do the OEM stuff just using really crap materials with stolen or rejected injection molding dies..The china syndrome stuff is thicker and heavier and denser.The strange thing about that is plastic for molding is not expensive. They might be using left over decades old ABS stock or possibly even recycled plastic.
Paint, at least good quality paint, is much more expensive. I would be willing to bet the paint they use is also cheap low grade stuff and will chip, peel, crack, or fade over time.
Molding casts are expensive to make and take a fair amount of maintenance or you will have issues with the finished product. Also Injection molding speed and temperatures are critical
Either way I'd pass on any knock off plastics for my bikes regardless of cost. It's the price of riding (and crashing) a sport bike
