I received these gems today! My first time trying OZ wheels. I have a few customers over the years that were happy with their OZ wheels and thought I would give them a try as Marchesini was going to take SIX MONTHS - from the day I order to arrival was just shy of 3 months.

Front weights 7 lbs, rear 9.4 lbs
Color: Flat black with anti-slip coating

I'll get new slicks and my T-Drive rotors mounted up and weighed compared to stock over the next week and report back on the differences...

I weighed the stock wheels with all original parts and here is what I found.

Front weighed 25 lbs, rear 31.8 lbs.

I decided to try the new Michelin Power Cup 2 in oem sizes (120/70 front and 200/55 rear) - I weighed these new tires and the front weighed the same as the oem Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP (V2), however the rear was 1.8 lbs lighter! - that is quite a difference!

I weighed the complete wheels back to back on the same scale and the new complete wheels with the heavier/thicker than stock Brembo T-Drive 330 mm rotors and I knocked off a total of 4.4 lbs: front was 24.2 lbs and rear was 28.2 lbs - apples to apples the wheels save 2.8 lbs but those Brembo rotors are slightly heavier so with the same tires all all stock parts makes that difference shrink to 2.6 lbs.

The bike looks much better as well - would have been cool if Honda had just put forged Marchesini rims from the beginning....

I will make a separate thread about the Michelin Power Cup 2 changes to the geometry that may be needed but Michelin specifically states the following in their design brief : "Quick set up with no specific adaptions needed" so I will leave the geometry alone and try them; then make adjustments.

When I switch tires I measure them and if I like the way the bike is already turning then I adjust the geometry of the chassis to get the bike to work the same way with the new rubber - in this case the shorter (-2 mm) front and taller +(4.5 mm) rear would require one shorten the length of the rear shock by 2 mm (linkage has about a 2:1 ratio) and raise the front by 2 mm but that isn't as easy as raising the front 4 mm so that is where I will go after a session of two of warmup - changing ride height at front or rear is not exactly the same but for 999 riders out of 1000 it is so check this space for feedback.

well i know its around 4,4 lbs , add in the factor x5 moment of inertia = like a bike which is 22lbs lighter......so is it worth or not? i think not , of course they also looks nice but performance wise for a hobby racer i think you dont need it.

Every ounce at the edge of a 17" rim takes 25 lbs of force to change direction at 100 mph. Work is defined as force over time. Doing the math >>> 16 ounces in one pound equals 400 lbs of force if it takes the rider one second to change direction at 100 mph if the wheel is a single pound lighter. The OZ wheels are several pounds lighter than oem. Many people talk about a bike being easier to turn but most of those people can't really provide what that means. One the street is is very hard to tell the difference. At an expert-level club racer pace on a 2.5 mile track a carbon wheel (VERY LIGHT) saves only 1/2 of a second per lap over a stock cast wheel - I have personally done this test comparing a 2017 GSX-R1000R race bike with stock cast wheels vs. BST carbon wheels on the same day using tires with the same compound and pressures >>>> only 1/2 a second difference! What is more useful info for most people is the fact that over the day a rider is doing a lot more work on the heavier wheels so at the end of the day you might be more tired on stock wheels versus lighter forged or similar wheels. If you are a street rider lighter wheels are for show, on track if you get tired after 5 sessions getting a set of lightweight wheels will let you do that 6th or even 7th session and feel the same amount of worn out as you would expect to feel after 5 sessions.
