Patchy stock 08-9 Exhaust Fix

1058 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ant...
There have been a few posts about the poor quality of the stock exhaust on the 2008-09 CBR1000RR. The problem IMO is the paint honda used is very thin and it looks like its dried wrong. mine also had bare metal in parts.

I thought i would have a go at painting my exhaust.
The heat shield is easy enough to get off, just 3 bolts, and with a sheet to cover the bike, I began to spray the exhaust with High Temp Exhaust Paint.
Even though the whole job took less than 10mins, I couldnt wait for it to dry so I turned the engine on to heat the paint up :)

The final job is much better finish and a its uniform colour. Unfortunately i got a good fingerprint on the paintwork, but nothing ant... does is completely perfect :)

Good job man. Happy to see someone posting up bike work instead of "which blinkers should I get", etc.
Well its a very cheap & quick that makes such a difference to the look of the bike.

Hope the paint job stays good.
It looks like you achieved some good results.

They're both cosmetic "mods".

Hope the paint job stays good.
If it doesn't, it is a "very cheap & quick" fix.
that actually looks pretty good. thanks for the tip!
Looks like a project for me to do :)

Thanks!
No problem guys

You know how the high temp paint isnt quiet as dark as the other blacks, well im wondering if Honda have added some sort of polish or something to darken the effect, it wears off and thats why they are all patch.
