Rear seat won't come off

8144 Views 10 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  blue&yellowhaze
I bought a used '07 about a week ago and am unable to remove the rear seat when I turn the key above the rear tire. The bike didn't come with an owners manual.
I searched the archives and a member had posted about the cable coming off which actuates the seat lock. His solution was to drill a hole and poke around till he was able to remove the seat. I'm not too keen on drilling holes in my RR, any thoughts on how to approach this one...:popcorn2:

Did you try pushing down on the seat as you were turning the key??

Also, as opposed to drilling holes, you could try to take the rider's seat off and maybe loosen the bolts holding the tail section on so that you can get to the cable. Maybe just pulling tension on the cable while turning the key would do the trick.

Tried pushing down on the seat, no dice Dave, will probably try your suggestions tomorrow, thanks much. Any other ideas please chime in guys...
Give Dru a PM, he'll hook you up personnaly with this and I'm sure with her sitting on it, it'll pop loose, or crumble your subframe. Hmm....quite the quandry
