Recall 3MS / 3MN incl RR-R

Received a recall for the CBR1000RR-R (SP) today. Living in the Netherlands so not sure if this covers all bikes EU+ROW. It's in dutch but essentially it says:

Due to an error in the ODB program creates incorrect settings in the PGM F1 CPU, which in turn triggers increased process times in the PGM-ECM and invokes a reset. This could result in fuel and ignition stopping functioning and the bike stalling.

This never happened to the bike, nor have I read it here happening to others. Since I am running the Brentune stage 1 tune I am not sure if this problem is "cleansed" with the new map. I'll be checking that with Motobull / Brentune.

Regards, Danny

Thanks for keeping us updated.
I am in same situation. But received a different document, jjust saying it need to be updated....
No indication here yet, I'll keep an eye on the recall page for the US.

I received my Recall letter this morning for my 2020 CBR1000RR-R

Something to do with the OBD data management program of the PGM-Fi ECM, setting need to be updated due to cases of engine stalls or even engine cut out whilst riding.

I haven't experienced any of these issues, but best get it booked in.

Any word from Brentune on whether the Stage 1 clears this?
Not yet. I asked Motobull to check this. They are in between so I suspect an answer takes a little more time.
Mine (2021 rrr-r SP) yesterday cut out at nearly 60 mph this was five minuites after I picked it up from the Honda dealer after having the software update to fix the recall issue relating to the PGM reset issue, It has done 4400 miles with no stalling issues, only after having the new software was installed did I have a problem. Not good; I nearly had an accident with a car. It wouldn’t restart after hitting kill switch and back to run and bumping it in gear. It restarted after stopping and switching it on and off again. It’s back at the dealer they sent a van to take me as I didnt trust it not to cutout to ride it back to them.

I do like the bike, it’s great fun to ride, but after the oil line failure recall I have cracked lower body panels which looks like have been caused by the heat shield update to sort the oil cooler line problem had redirected the heat to warp and crack the panels. I’m hoping this will be the end of the cracking but expect the heat shield to cause this again. Putting a cooler line between the headers and the block seems not very smart in the first place. The pipes can fail because of poor airflow at high RPM according to Honda. So the fix is a metal heat shield that protects from radiated heat but now reduces airflow to the pipe which was part of initial problem according to the recall letter.

The dealer themselves are really nice and have been first class. They didn’t make it they just sold it. I just don’t know if i trust my bike anymore and if these problems will recur when my extended warranty runs out. I’ve only had Hondas and I’m disappointed but thank my lucky stars I didn’t have a smash when it stalled at speed. It could have been so much worse. This one is becoming a dealer boomerang. The worst thing is I’m loosing my trust in it.

Can you post a picture of the cracked warped lower fairing. I am planning to put some heat reflective shield on the inner fairing.

Still waiting on that warped cracked lower panel.

hi dont do it, it only applies to 0-4500 closed loop fuel injection function, especially if you have a BT tune, they disable closed loop anyway,
also be aware your dealer will read your ECM and see your tune and possible void your warranty
however you may want to reflash back to stock with BTs box if you really want it then flash back to st 1,
just my humble opinion,
contact Brendan via email and confirm
good luck
You have the high idle after the ODB PGM update?

If that's the case, that could explain why my idle also increased to around 1600rpm after installing BT Moto Stage 2 map. From what I understood, the fix was added to Stage 2. Honda states idle should 1400rpm +/-100rpm. I think with the BT Moto stage 2 it's at least 1600rpm +/-250.

At first, I was thinking an air leak was the cause. To rule that out I returned to Stage 1 and the rpm decreased to 1400 +/-100.

My bike hasn’t been remapped, but interested to know what you removed, was it just software or any physical modification.
I added the long velocity stacks from BT Moto. Left them on running both stage 1 (1400rpm) and 2(1600rpm) with the corresponding results. Few other things popup up with stage 2. DM me in case you want details. Motobull and BTMoto are still woring on it.
I wonder how many got this ECU software fix ending up with idle issues. Is it incidental or does everyone ends up with a plus 1600rpm issue?
I have not been notified of a update in the US. I am running a full Akra Ti/carbon exhaust with 2022 slash cut velocity stacks removed the foam in the ram air added a Sprint P08 air filter, block off plates and removed the charcoal canister and used resistors to get rid of all codes. It idles perfectly maybe because I have a Rapid Bike Evo. Still have not purchased the flash from Woolrich.
