Screws are locked!

1149 Views 9 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  booken
I rode my friends '08 R1, with 1000 miles on it, last night and there was NO suspension at all it was like solid forks, so I went to loosen the screws in the top of the forks and they will not turn, WTF?!?! They do seem to have a tiny tiny bit of play so they are not locked in place, but not adjustable. This guy does not know anything about suspension and would have never attempted to mess with any of the settings. Does anyone know how this could happen?

So again, Nobody has nothing?!?!
Sounds like someone cranked the adjustment screws to one extreme (probably closed if the suspension feels bound) and now they don't want to adjust because they are torqued into position. Oh the pain....
either the set up guys at the shop he got it from or someone out in town did they should free up the valves prolly not opening if so try to take it to the dealer if broke and warrenty should cover it remember to try to turn them soft
Not sure if adjusting the screws past the stop would be warrantied - hopefully it is.
Sounds like someone who did not know what they were doing found a loose screw and decided to tighten it. Like when you were ten and found a spoke wrench at Kmart and decided.........hey I think I should tighten all my bike spokes..........need I say more.
Like I said, this guy would have NEVER touched these screws NEVER EVER, EVER, but even if some arse did over tighten them why wont they just loosen?

Bring the freaking thing to the dealer if it's an 08:popcorn2:
Should have got a RR.

Tell your friend he's fired.
They can lock up if tightened. I am not an expert but if you are so inclined take the fork tube top cap off. Read up on the procedure first.
