they have outlawed it to keep costs down i think, nothig else. same reason BST's are not allowedThe ones from Taylormade are AMA approved race spec ultrathin fiberglass...
They will be lighter than OPP, thinner than OPP, but I cannot speak to the interior smoothness vs. OPP, but the fact that the race teams use them should say something about their quality.
AMA has outlawed carbon fiber bits for '09...
As you know...the amount of material in either carbon fiber or fiberglass is not where the cost of these parts is really coming from especially with the type of glass Taylormade uses and the small size of the parts...it's the labor to build them... the same whether you are doing fiberglass or carbon fiber.fiberglass is silly
carbon is much stiffer and stronger then glass. the only reason for glass is for cost savings, glass does nothig better
$400 is steep
I have bought OPP intakes for the R1, not bad really in carbon and some clear they are fine
It's like many other mods we non-racers do... totally unnecessary, but worth it to the person who does it...so can anyone tell me if someone who doesnt race gets these air tunnels.. is it worth it?
