Yesterday i bought an 08 blade and on the ride home i couldnt get the back brake to work hard, it certainly can Not lock the rear wheel.

Is this a common problem and does it have a solution?

thanks

what does the pedal feel like, solid, short travel ?
what do the pads and disc look like
I had the same problem. I switched to spieglers and carbone lorraine pads and the problem went away.

what does the pedal feel like, solid, short travel ? - Yes
what do the pads and disc look like - Pads look rusty, disks are fine

It was purchased from a Honda dealer and they serviced it before i bought it, so i wondered if it was normal.
Yeah the feeling of no rear brakes on a 08 Blade are pretty much normal from the input I've been hearing, and mine suck too. I did however apply them lightly going down the highway for a few seconds at a time and they did improve noticably once they were broken in.

funny you say that, i dont think my rear brake has ever been used.

Today i managed to get it to lock, but their is no, or very little, stopping power before it locks.

Perhaps HH sintered pads might work better, but id prefer to hear how other members have fixed this problem, apart from buying brembo 2 pots.
I rmbr mine getting weak before I changed to a brembo 2 pot. No probs now
I have an 06, and personally i DONT want the rear to lock. 'specially if you ride curvy roads or do track days and like to trail brake into the corners. If your just into straight line riding try a differant pad and re-bleed the rear caliper.
Mayby the pads are brand new, they just need a little scrubbing.
don't use your rear brake, high sides suck

i intentionally leave air in the line to make mine even more worthless as the tire can easliy slide if you have too much bite and are not very skilled. If the rear bites hard and you are cornering and you get scared the first thing a newb does is stomp on the rear and they fly. The sportbike used prolly 80% of it braking from the front, learn to trust and use them. if you are hot in a corner the rear wil not likely get you through it as much as leaning it over and riding through the corner i will

that crap of slamming on the front first toload the rear then use both if hogwash IMO
I can't understand why anyone would use the rear brake while riding except on the track. Where my right foot is it is not even near the brake pedal. on the road i need to consciously move my foot to use the rear brake if i were to ever use it.
Using the rear brake never enters my mind while riding on the road.
mine was the same .... it just needed bleeding, fixed her rite up. as for using the rear brake i use it all the time, whether it be coming to a stop, trail breaking, general riding its what i was taught at advanced riding course.. i can"t live without it
Now ive broken the brake in more its a little better, but it seems to have very little stopping power before it locks the rear tyre. Atleast i can do 180 skid turns
