Wrecked 09 1000RR HELP!

Hey fellas, got a horrible story to tell ya! Last night I was riding my bike with some buddies and going around some curves when a possum ran out in front of me. I tried to dodge it by making a quick turn to the left. Unfortunately, I hit a huge patch of sand and went down at about 50 on my brand new Pearl White 1000RR. I am fine but my bike is not. This is the first bike I have taken down and don't know what to expect from the insurance company. The whole right side fairing is pretty scratched up and even bent in one place the cover where the oil goes in is really scratched, my right foot peg broke off and my rear brake is bent at a 90 degree angle also near my headlight there is a lager set of scratches, the gas tank is scratched up nicely on the right side and my fender with the TAG and lights has broken from right underneath the seat. Although it is not the most horrible thing I have seen do you think they are going to be totaling it out or does this sound like a cheap fix. Also my bike pulls to the left a little now too.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys,

the pulling part sounds like trouble but the other stuff sounds minnor

but

:ttiwwp:

but at least your ok right
yeah i dunno about the pulling part, sounds like something is bent on that front end. the rest is definitely minor and a good excuse to upgrade when u get ur insurance money...

Cheap to fix, are you serious? lol. Pulling to the left sounds like a write off, imho.
Good you seem to be OK, good luck. My .02, hitting that critter would have been preferable.

+1 should have gave it a bunch of gas! You would have made a mini ramp at the little guys expense but I imagine it happened all to fast.
+2

It would have had to be a big ass possum for me to take such evasive action
I'm sorry for your loss :( ( I'm getting the same bike )
factory mid fairing 350, tail fairing, 250, upper fairing 300, tank cover 800, clutch housing cover 160, get the forks checked, if bad go e-bay. theres a couple dealer sites that have a link for oem parts lists with prices, don't know if a can list it so search for yourself. anyways, glad you ok.
check your forks, the wheel is just probably mis aligned. Loosen the lower triple, then the top triple just enough for them to spin, straigten the wheel and tightnen in reverse.

put the bike on a stand and spin the wheel with something barely touching the rotor. (maybe a large socket standing up with an extention in it) If it maintains the same gap from valve to valve on both sides your good.

That bike is not totalled even with a bad front end or wheel. I doubt your frame is bent from a lowside, and fairings and an engine cover on a new bike MSRP is no comparison.
Next time hold your line and run over the possum. It will feel like a speed bump and then just keep going.

Mike
Its not the obsticle, its what YOU do when you get to it.
Shoulda cut that Possum in half
Rule of thumb

It you can eat it in one sitting, run over it.
glad to hear your okay. get it fixed and get back on the bike!
Going around curves at night?
Thats what i was thinking, but to each their own. Glad yer ok dude... now wheres the pics??

Not entirely true but a damn good rule of thumb.

I ran over a fat ass 40lb poodle one time.
