I have a Dano tune on my 2018. Very happy with the tune and his service. Call him and discuss what he can do and results on a 2017. I believe the 2017 and 2018 are the same tune but not positive.

 

2017, 2018 and 2019 are identical.
2020, 2021, 2022 and now 2023 are all the same and have extra security measures inside the ECU. Preventing most people from being able to work with it.
Until recently, that included Woolich and DynoJet. However, both of those companies currently claim to have figured it out. Woolwich is now up and running. DynoJet is releasing a
Power Commander 6
for the 2020 and up SC 77.
They were telling me last November and December that the product would be ready in February. But they have been waiting for their harnesses.

 

Does anyone have any recommendations for a "specific" ECU tune to have done on their 2017-2019 Honda CBR1000RR models? I've owned a 2017 Honda CBR1000RR ABS for a few months now and bought it with 2,500 miles on it. I plan on keeping the Stock Muffler and not looking to add any performance mods however, I am looking to send in my ECU and have it professionally done and I'm not really looking for extra power or any horsepower gains. I'm strictly looking for a tune that'll tighten up those factory set programmed emissions Honda had to be in compliance with. From my understanding, the 2017 CBR1000RR typically runs lean, and what caught my attention was my idle lopping in general since I had this bike. The idle doesn't seem to stay at one steady Rev and sort of jumps around a bit. Im looking to smoothen all that out along with tweeking the throttle response and Ignition timing and possibly improving the AFR if needed and bringing down the Radiator Fan Temperature to 194F.
Does anyone have a good ECU Tune to recommend for a nicer overall Engine Performance for the
2017 - Honda CBR1000RR ABS (Stock) ?
Any recommendations is a huge help for me, i'm really trying to find the right place to send in my ECU !

If you’re looking at mostly fixing your AFR and the jumpy cold start idle, you will want to look into either a local dyno tuner or get a wideband and datalogger for proper remote tuning. Most reputable tuners will let you send in data for adjusting your tune, but the down side is you will be sending your ECU back and forth a few times.

A few of the popular tuners for these bikes are Chris Moore (focused on max gains and drag racing), and @Danos Performance as already mentioned (builds race engines for these bikes and sponsors the forum).

You also have the option of tuning yourself. Most tuners these days use Woolich Racing, If you’re comfortable with fuel/ignition maps and ETV tables you can purchase Woolich’s hardware/software and tune it yourself. If you go this route, purchase their full kit with the wideband O2 sensor and data logger.

This is supposed to be a forum where people share information, knowledge, and experience so others can make the best decisions for their own bikes. I recommend all of the best tuners and my own experience so others can make their own decisions.

I had my dealership called Cycles of Jacksonville do my dyno tune with the new power commander 6. My tuner named Brian did an excellent job for those that are in the north Florida area. Throttle response, power and smoothness are all up.

 

The Power Commander is an external component which is used to kluge the ECU settings. Reprogramming the ECU is the correct way modify the settings for A/F, timing, throttle valve opening speed, etc. External devices are used when you don't have access to the ECU memory, with Woolrich software it is not an issue with the later bikes.

For one of my vehicles I have software to reprogram ECU but the processor is so slow that is does a so so job of fueling the engine and correcting to keep it in stochimeter A/F ratio, 14.7:1 in cruise, so a fast piggyback ECU is warranted.

 

Bren Tuning now does 17 CBR 1000 RR ECU flashes.

I saw this BT video about 20 minutes after it was first posted, coincidentally.
A certain expert on the subject told me there’s some very significant and wrong information in this BT video.
It’s certainly above my pay grade / knowledge.

As I understand it, most ECU flash businesses have the 2017-2019 SC-77 figured out, for years.
The 2020-2023 has been killing people with its increased security, firewalls and other parameters.
It’s these SC-77’s that have stopped most everyone in their tracks.
Until this year.
The 100th monkey theory seems to have happened… because multiple businesses have figured it out, all at about the same time.

I could not be happier with my set up.
My choice of ECU flash, velocity stacks, air-filter, and full exhaust.
The combination is ferocious and extremely gratifying.
Altogether, it did cost me thousands in parts and labor, but it has completely transformed my bike for the unbelievable better.

BT_Moto ECU FLASH, Velocity Stack, Akra GP Titanium Slip On Exhaust, Stock Header With Catalytic And Stock Air Filter. I’m pushing 179 on the rear wheel 91 pump gas only in Cali.
So idk if getting aftermarket air filter and headers will make significant increase in HP, but right now im content with the result.
I don’t do any freeway drags unless someone wants to test me out but bike is mostly for Track and Canyons.
