I just did this mod & found it to be pretty easy. On my bike, there are dzus fasteners holding the covers on, not three screws. I removed all the vacuum hoses as well (they connect in the center under the instrument cluster).

I also removed the exhaust flapper cable from the servo, but kept all electronics connected.

No codes.

I just wish I could remove the doors in the intake tubes altogether.

The springs came out easily with a long standard screwdriver.

Just take the long screw driver and pry them up. They'll pop right out. I'd recommend putting something else on top of the door itself prior to prying though... They tend to "pop" off when the come loose and have had a tendancy to move towards your filter box making them hard to reach. If you have some of those flexible claw grabber things, those work good too.

When you guys say your prying out the flapper doors are you doing that from the front of the intake? Are you guys just sticking a long screwdriver in there and snapping them out, then pulling the doors through the front intake?

Thanks in advance.....

that's what i did. however, the right side one went back into the airbox, so i had to get in there and fish it out from the top

You gotta pry pretty hard, there in there pretty good. If someone's gotta a better way post up. My right side also popped back up in the ram air tube and into the air box but going in there gave me a chance to A. look around and B. pull the screen off the air filter, I beleave I have some pic's in this thread.

I've already done the HID mod. its a pain in the ass. i had the slim ballast so it made the hole thing a little bit easier. You should use the H7 bulbs for proper mounting. I had to cut the HID bulb wires and snake the wires from the bulbs through the factory hole for the harness into the head light. Doing it this way means that you have to remove the factory bulb connector and send that harness down to the power supply for the hid ballast. the only place to put the ballast is in the fairings by the radiator. If you do the Hids the way i did mine the harness will look factory and the wires will be sealed safely inside the head light. I will try to post the pics soon. once you see it you'll better understand.

Did the flapper mod a few minites ago, pulled out everything including the solonoid valves with the flappers, started the bike no errors. I also lost the right hand side flapper down into the air box, guess what started as a 30 min job turned into? Just love the exstra noise from the intakes, hope it improves even more when my DNA filter pitches up.

K thanks resus.

p.s. This seat is a pain in the @$$ to get off! Im stuck on the side panels (step 1 basically). Figured Id take the air filter screen off while i was out tinkering. any tricks to get the plastic panels off so i can get at the screws of the seat?

Wow, those Bastards, they must be reading our forums. So the valve is now normally closed, that's BS and stupid IMHO. Like at work, vacum I to P controllers, we set them up to be normally open so when we loose power or get an air leak, engine doesn't freaking over heat or over speed or blow up. Same thing with thermocouples, we set them to have up scale burn-out. You accidently unplugge one, engine controls see high temp, safety trips and brings her down. Imagine what happens otherwise on coolant or oil temp controls ?

Whats the best way to get the screen off the airfilter? Just pry the crap out of it without breaking your filter? The things holding it in place arent screws otherwise id obviously just unscrew it

Wire cutters ? I would have to see them, on the outside right so no way left over pieces can get into engine ?
